Fountain Valley

Fountain Valley’s neighborhoods are settled and well kept, and many homes are on their first or second set of windows. We replace them and the doors to the yard.

01Local knowledge

Houses in Fountain Valley

The houses

Most of Fountain Valley was built in the 1960s and 1970s as single-family tracts on a flat grid around Mile Square Park. Houses are one and two stories, often with aluminum windows and sliding doors from the original build or an early vinyl replacement. Owners here usually want quieter rooms, cooler afternoons and a better door to the backyard, and the simple plans make a multi-slide door an easy fit where the wall allows.

The conditions

Fountain Valley is close enough to Huntington Beach for the afternoon ocean breeze, but far enough inland that summers run warmer. West-facing glass is specified for heat and glare. Homes near the 405 and the main boulevards are much quieter with laminated glass.

02Permits and approvals

Handled for you

Fountain Valley lists window and door replacement as an expedited permit. The submittal is the city’s window replacement worksheet and a floor plan, uploaded through its online permit center.

01

A like-for-like replacement does not go through full plan check.

02

The floor plan shows where each window and door is being replaced.

03

Applications and fees are handled online.

04

Fountain Valley is inland, and no coastal review is involved.

Questions

Fountain Valley, asked

Anything else is best answered in person, at the house.

Do I need a permit to replace windows in Fountain Valley?

Yes, but it is on the city’s expedited list. We submit the window replacement worksheet and a floor plan online.

Do we need full plans?

Not for a like-for-like replacement. The worksheet and a floor plan marking each window and door are what the city asks for.

Can we replace a slider with a multi-slide door?

Yes. If the opening stays the same size, it is a like-for-like replacement under the expedited permit. A wider opening falls outside that path, and we confirm what the city needs before design.
